Green Workshop

Recycling Protocols

Within our workshops we have strict recycling protocols in place with regards to the sorting and segregation of waste materials.

Waste Materials

Within our workshops we have strict recycling protocols in place with regards to the sorting and segregation of waste materials, so that we can determine what can be incinerated in our automatic thermal recycling plant and what will need to be disposed of in skips. Items that we can incinerate are wide ranging from virgin timber, including all dust extracted waste through to organic packaging, such as cardboard.

During the colder times of the year the heat generated from the plant is ducted into the workshop to help with the heating, whilst during warmer periods the heat is dissipated to the external atmosphere by duct work.

As a consequence of the above, the company greatly reduced its reliance on skips and the use of gas for heating, as well as its impact on landfill and of course reduced our landfill tax.

Not only has the landfill been reduced but we have dramatically reduced our carbon foot print due to us using a non-fossil fuel that is carbon neutral.

Reducing our carbon

Additional items that the company have introduce to help reduce our carbon foot print are:

  1. A dust extraction monitoring system with automatic dampers which perfectly balances the use of electricity to match the system requirements, which reduces our electricity requirement by 40%.
  2. LED low voltage lighting has been throughout our factory and offices, again to reduce our electricity and carbon foot print.
